2003 740T Season Highlights

A challenging year, with a number of car improvements (5sp dogbox, alloy hood, diff spool) but not the required reliability.

Best result for the year was 4^th outright in the 3rd State Round at Wakefield Park.

Pfitzner PPG Mazda dogbox proving strong and reliable after fitting mid-year.

We finished 2^nd in Late Model Over 2L Class, a bit back from our Class 1^st in 2001/2002.

Finally diagnosed the cause of engine failures (“Volvo floating rods” – ask me about it!).

Now preparing the car for the 2004 season – fresh motor, custom rods, new forged pistons.

2002 740T Rundown

The Ovlov.net 740T again took 1st place in the NSW Improved Production State Championships for Late Model class (post-’87 models) and finished 5th Outright in the State Championship against the Mazda rotaries which still dominate Improved Production in Australia.

With some subtle handling modifications by the Rev Doctor, plus body and paintwork freshened up, the 740T is now ready for the 2003 Improved Production Racing season, with 6 Rounds of the NSW State Championship, 4 Rounds in the Interstate Challenge plus the Improved Production Nationals, with events in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.

2002 Season Highlights

Running in 1st place for 2 laps at the Wakefield Park Club round Trophy Race before Gary Mennell in Nick Dunkley’s RX-7 came past on the last lap.

Starting from 12th grid position, then finishing 4th in the wet first race at the Winton Interstate Challenge Round.
